Hammers

Solid Tooth Bush Hammer

For shaping, texturing, or smoothing soft stone.  To shape or remove stone, use more impact.  Lighter impact will smooth the stone, leaving a stippled finish.

Carbide Bull Set

For roughing out or shaping large blocks of stone.  Using the Bull Set is a 2-person operation - one person holds the hammer angled on its edge, set in place along the edge of the area of stone to be removed, angling the blade slightly toward the outside of the stone.  The other person then hits it with the striking hammer.  With use, the breaking edge of the hammer will wear down; the hammer can then be turned around on its handle and the other side used.  NOTE: This hammer is not meant to be swung.

Carbide lasts longer and requires less maintenance than steel; however, it is more vulnerable to breaking if placed on an uneven surface, so be sure to use the Carbide Bull Set on a sawed or polished block of stone.

Carbide Hammer Point

The Carbide Tipped Hammer Point is the fast, easy way to rough out a block.  It's also perfect for removing a difficult knot or high spot.  You can swing the Hammer Point like a regular hammer or use the sturdy fiberglass handle to hold it in position while you strike it with another hammer.  Keeping your hand away from the action allows you to deliver a powerful blow without fear of a miss-strike.  This could be the most valuable tool in your toolbox!
